What the Hell was that: Seth Rollins vs The Fiend
WWE’s Hell in a Cell Pay Per View was much like a good movie that’s ruined with a bad ending. No matter how great a movie is, the ending is everything. It’s the last thing the audience sees, and it is what they will remember weeks later.
The show started off with a fantastic match between Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch. Following that were some feel-good moments with the Kabuki Warriors winning the Women’s Tag Team Titles for the first time ever and Charlotte winning the women’s title for the 10th time in her career. Then it came time for the main event. Seth Rollins vs the Fiend was a match that nobody really knew what was going to happen, but I don’t think anyone could’ve guessed what we saw on Sunday.
There were many issues with the main event. I’m here to break down and try to make sense of the mess that took place.
Let’s start at the very beginning, before the match even started. What was the point of having this match with the lights off and that red tint over the cell? I understand that WWE was trying to add to the horror and spookiness of the match, but it just didn’t work. I began to get flashbacks of Sin Cara. The match was at times hard to see on TV, and I can’t even imagine what the experience was like for the fans in the actual arena.
